yoke.
YOGA {sanskrit} = YOKE
Yoke: create a union.
Union: the action or fact of joining or being joined.
yoga i have found is most def a practice of union.
of breath to body.
body to movement.
movement to expression.
expression to connection.
connection to self.
to spirit.
to community.
joined for a moment or forever.
in my experience it often starts with the movement, the connection of shapes and then when we find the bridge of the breath to our body and the way it shifts or opens or grounds us, we are hooked. it’s transformational. because it is layered.
in the physical.
the subtle.
the emotional.
the mental.
the energetics.
singular or all encompassing.
and when we allow it to continuously connect and connect beyond our bodies on a mat, #ayeyaiyai
when we accept and surrender into the cycle of this union as a way of life vs a destination, the expansion is unbelievable sometimes. truly remarkable. and often words just don’t feel enough for me.
this most recent trip around the sun has been a leaning in even more deeply to this union, to this joining.
and the connection to spirit for me has been awe inspiring. and that straight line to heart has illuminated and aligned honest and DEEP connections not only with myself and spirit but also with the humans who have held me accountable.
and not in a way that I once thought that meant.
these connections and friendships and mentorships, these communions, have held me accountable to the highest version of myself. reminding me of my true purpose and gifts in this world and elevating me often when they have no idea it’s what they are doing. yet, true heart union, true passion, true authenticity, true purpose is not forced, it’s often not even planned, it’s channeled through heart.
through union.
a yoking.
yoga.
if you’ve been with me a while you know yoga is more to me than the shapes our bodies make. it’s more to me than even the breath our bodies take. it’s the deep rooted union with all that is.
with all we’ve learned.
and an openness to all that is yet to come.
and damn what a ride.
one that i am every year more grateful for and one that i will continue opening into and allowing to connect.
to transmute
and to express into the world.
and and and to those who lift me
support me
love me
see me
trust me …
thank you
thank you
thank you
what a year 🙏
