the bird and the stone.
I heard a poem yesterday morning that influenced and impacted the hours that followed. it became the theme of my sessions and organically weaved well into beautiful conversation with a dear friend too.
there is a bird and a stone in your body. your job is not to kill the bird with the stone. - victoria chang
the words lit my system up as i continue to find balance of both of these in my own life. in my own body. as i navigate the world around me and the world inside me.
this weekend i was inspired again (parenting, yo 😫) to share with my kids about friendship and what it takes and doesn’t to be in community.
the bird and the stone.
the more we care for our own heart, the more we care about others and our stone then becomes foundation and stability and less weaponization directed out or in. at least that has been true for me.
notice those who have daggers and know they have in some way abandoned their heart and therefore their connection to spirit. it is not our job to receive that, change that or fix that. it is only our job to continuing leaning into heart and let it guide us to those who are willing to meet us there.
when we have a strong connection to who we are, the heart of what’s important to us that stone becomes a bedrock of faith and when we are grounded and secure and safe there is no better freedom or space for that damn bird to fly or sing or spread its wings … which by the way is so much more fun. life is too short to need to prove your worthiness and your people don’t make ya anyway they just recognize.
I don’t know just a little sunday spirit lead riff on the bird and the stone. seems it needed a place to land this weekend.
how’s that poem land for you?
